The Chilean Wine Palm Jubea chilensis is a much appreciated but increasingly rare palm tree that is endemic to central Chile. The fruits are like miniature coconuts (hard shelled and with white fruit) and the sap of the tree has been used for producing a beverage referred to as wine. The cluster of palms in this image was taken at La Campana National Park where the tree is preserved. .
