From its origins high in the Rocky Mountains, the Colorado River has traveled about a thousand miles by the time it reaches this point known as the Horseshoe Bend of the Colorado. It then flows onward to carve out the magnificent Grand Canyon before descending southward to a destiny that currently intercepts its goal of reaching the oceanic Gulf of California.
